Job summary Surgery and peri-operative medicine We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive clinical pharmacist to join our peri-operative and surgical pharmacy team. You will be working across the surgical division providing expertise to both patients and healthcare professionals across a range of surgical specialties such as urology, colorectal, trauma and orthopaedics and upper GI. The role will involve covering in-patient areas, pre-op and post-op clinics, working with a team of experienced pharmacists, surgeons, anaesthetists and specialist nurses. Main duties of the job Working closely with the pharmacy, nursing, medical and management teams, you will lead on delivering services to surgical teams to improve how patient's medicines are optimised. o Reviewing patients with acute and complex needs as part of the multi-disciplinary ward round; o Developing, implementing and monitoring prescribing guidelines; o Financial monitoring of drug expenditure; oSupporting the training and education of pharmacists, Medicines Management Technicians (MMTs) and other healthcare staff; o Promoting the medicines optimisation and medicines safety agenda; o Participating in other clinical activities such as clinical audit and practice research; o Collaborating with other system organisations, including Wirral CCG, MLCSU, CWP, community pharmacy and WCHC.
