Instrument DesignerRole OverviewWe are currently seeking to recruit a Senior Instrument Designer to be based in Macclesfield Cheshire.The Senior Instrument Designer will have the responsibility to support the local projects team through provision of Electrical & Instrument Design and Consulting Services.This role will require a high level of autonomy and strong communication skills.The Senior Instrument Designer will have a technical engineering design background. Projects within the current portfolio include:Extensive flow and pressure monitoring projectUpgrade of effluent plant to PLC controlUpgrade of process plant to DCSRole Detail Description:The Senior Instrument Designer will work closely with the Multi Discipline Design Team and Project Manager supporting the efficient and effective delivery of pharmaceutical projects.The post holder will:Review and assess customer needsProvide resource estimates for design related activitiesProduce reports, scope of works, concept design and detailed designs (TypicallyRIBA2-4)Support effective delivery of projects to time, quality, and cost targets together with the ability to multi-task and prioritiseProduce documentation in accordance with defined standards/quality requirementsLiaise with design and equipment subcontractorsInterface with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Process, HVAC and CivilProvision of 2D Design Deliverables, GAs, equipment layouts and cable/containment routing diagramsCable Block DiagramsInstrument Loop DiagramsHoney well BMS Interface DiagramsKnowledge, Skills, Qualifications & ExperienceExtensive experience (at least 5 years) in a relevant design role including successful delivery of electrical installation designs within projects for the pharmaceutical sector.HNC or Degree in technical engineering related subjectMembership of professional Institution or similar body is desirableExperience in UK pharmaceutical construction projects is desirable but not essentialExperience of E&I design best practicesCompex 12 Qualification desirableExperience in ATEX Hazardous Area design and protection concepts including Intrinsic SafetyExperience in Functional Safety-IEC61508/IEC61511 desirableProject life cycle experience (Concept through detail design to construction support)Knowledge of data and administrative management practices and proceduresSound experience and knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015Undertake site surveysPossess collaborative skills and experience working in part of a multi-discipline teamPossess ability to work in a team or alone, comfortable to liaise with client representativesStrong communication and organisational skillsSoftware PackagesProficient use of the following software packages:Auto CADLTMicrosoft suite of programsTPBN1_UKTJ
