Hoyland Medical Practice is looking for a medical receptionist to work 24 hours per week to complement our team.
The post holder must be flexible and available 8 am-6.30 pm, Monday to Friday.
The successful candidate will provide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients and all members of the Primary Care Team.
Main duties of the job
* Act as a focal point of communication
* Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary
* Process appointment requests from patients by telephone and in person.
* Receive patients consulting with members of the Practice team
* Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines.

Job responsibilities
Administration
* Have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
* Work in accordance with written protocols
* Pull and file notes and update as necessary
* Photocopy as requested
* Gain competency with the computer system Emis Web
Reception
* Receive patients consulting with members of the Practice team
* Hand completed repeat prescriptions to patients and check names and addresses
* Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary
Appointments
* Process appointment requests from patients by telephone and in person.
* Deal with visit requests
Computer
* Registration of new patients, computer data entry, and medical records.
* Process patients' change of address, computer data, and medical records (have knowledge of Practice area).
* Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines.
* Send emails and deal with incoming emails appropriately
Telephone
* Have working knowledge of the telephone system, during and after hours.
Other Tasks
* Ensure building security; have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
* Make refreshments for clinical/administrative staff
* Any other tasks allocated by managers
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of general education
* GCSE Mathematics
* NVQ in Customer Service
Experience
* Practical experience of working in a public reception environment
* Experience of using own initiative
* Experience of customer service
* Practical experience of computerized recording systems
* Experience of working in General Practice or Pharmacy
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
