Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Wills and Probate Solicitor to join a prestigious legal firm operating within a large ABS structure. As a Senior Solicitor, you will play a pivotal role in providing exceptional legal services in the area of wills and probate. Responsibilities:
1. Manage a complex caseload of wills and probate matters, ensuring efficient and effective handling of each case from inception to completion.
2. Provide expert legal advice to clients on wills, estate administration, inheritance tax planning, trusts, and related areas.
3. Draft and review wills, powers of attorney, and other legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
4. Conduct legal research to stay up to date with changes in legislation and case law affecting wills and probate matters, applying this knowledge to provide sound and strategic advice.
5. Liaise with clients, beneficiaries, and external stakeholders, such as banks, insurance companies, and government agencies, to gather necessary information and ensure smooth progress of cases.
6. Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement meetings as required, representing clients effectively and advocating their best interests.
7. Mentor and supervise junior solicitors and support staff, providing guidance and fostering their professional development.
8. Contribute to business development activities, including networking, building client relationships, and participating in marketing initiatives to promote the firm's services.
Requirements:
1. Qualified solicitor with a strong background in wills and probate, preferably with a minimum of 5 years in probate.
2. Solid knowledge of wills, probate, estate administration, inheritance tax, trusts, and related areas of law.
3. Proven experience in managing a varied and complex caseload independently, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in drafting legal documents.
5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
6. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.
7. Experience in mentoring and supervising junior solicitors and support staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
8. Proactive approach to staying updated with changes in legislation and case law, and ability to apply this knowledge to client matters.
