Job Description
Hardware Design Engineer R&D
The R&D Engineer Hardware (HW) Design is member of an international R&D development team located in Cambridge, UK and Schliengen, Germany. The R&D team is developing highly sophisticated sensing devices to optimize production processes and for environmental emission monitoring to meet legal requirements.
Responsibilities:
The R&D Engineer HW Design acts in a team of scientists and engineers to develop analogue and digital hardware with Embedded SW. Starting from circuit ideation, schematics, layout and prototype production through to embedded programming, testing and handover to production.
The R&D Engineer HW Design independently carries out hardware developments and coordinates measures such as EMC tests and standard-compliant design for UKCA/CE labelling. A basic understanding of Embedded SW design enables him to discuss with Embedded SW Designers, if slightly more skilled they may take part in Embedded SW implementation and testing.
As part of a team, they will ideate, implement, calculate and describe HW concepts for approval-relevant requirements on metrological circuits, taking functional safety (SIL) and explosion protection (EX) into account. Their deep understanding of analogue and digital components and digital communication pathways helps us to develop energy and cost-efficient systems, while reducing the carbon footprint of our devices.
The R&D Engineer HW Design maintains existing products throughout their life cycle, revises circuit diagrams, layouts and components, maintains parts lists and production documents and, if necessary, assists with re-approval.
They document their work in the form of design documentation, test documentation and functional documentation, which can be used as a basis for the creation of manuals and the approval of the devices.
