The Role Seeking a Principal Engineer (Civil & Structural) to take a leading role in the design and delivery of high-profile rail and infrastructure projects. From bridges and railway stations to highways and depots, this position offers the chance to drive technical excellence and innovation in infrastructure design. What You’ll Be Doing Leading and managing the design and structural analysis of railway structures, bridges, stations, depots, and highways. ️ Overseeing structural assessments, finite element analysis (FEA), and independent design reviews to ensure safety and compliance. Providing technical leadership to engineers while mentoring and developing junior team members. Ensuring compliance with Network Rail, Eurocodes, British Standards, AASHTO, UIC, and CDM regulations. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors to deliver projects efficiently and effectively. Managing budgets, timelines, and project delivery to a high standard. Supporting business development through bid preparation and client engagement. What’s Needed to Succeed? ✅ Chartered Engineer (CEng, MICE, or MIStructE) preferred. ✅ 10 years of experience in civil/structural engineering, ideally in rail or infrastructure. ✅ Strong expertise in LUSAS, MIDAS, ABAQUS, or similar finite element analysis tools. ✅ Proven experience in managing teams and mentoring junior engineers. ✅ Track record in delivering high-profile rail and infrastructure projects. ✅ Knowledge of UK rail standards (NR, RSSB) and CDM regulations.
