The role
The College group are now seeking a Specialist Learning Mentor, to be based at their campus in Pershore to support students in classes with special educational needs.
Hours: Min 21 hours with flexibility on days
You will take responsibility for:
* Providing tailored support and mentoring students with special education needs 1:1 in class, and outside of the classroom, as directed by the SEN Team Leader.
* To support the Specialist Support Lead in the EHCP Annual Review Process, assisting in the planning and completion of reports.
* Liaising with parents and working closely with tutors and support leads to monitor, review, and ensure progress toward identified student targets.
* Collaborating with lecturers to prepare and adapt learning materials, ensuring accessibility for individual needs.
* Helping students meet academic deadlines by troubleshooting and addressing missed work, and providing support during work placements or trips, where necessary.
* Managing administrative responsibilities, such as maintaining records, updating ProMonitor, creating Individual Risk Assessments and Medical Protocols, and assisting with exam access arrangements.
What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:
* GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English (Grade A-C) and educated to level 3.
* Level 2 or above qualification relevant to specific learning difficulties
* Prior experience in supporting and mentoring students with special educational needs, of different ages and abilities.
* Experience of working with students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
* A good level of understand of Educational Healthcare Plans (EHPs) and SEND Code of practice (2014).
* Experience in working with learners on a 1-2-1 basis.
* An Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months is required for this role.
Other DESIRABLE skills include:
* Previous experience of working with students in a college/further and higher education setting.
* A qualification specific to Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) would be highly advantageous
