We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking journalist to join Nursing in Practice as a news and features writer in a first-of-its-kind role for the publication.
Nursing in Practice is a leading publication for nurses in general practice and community nursing, with impactful political and professional news, features and opinion pieces delivered via its website, alongside clinical content.
We are looking for someone to dive into the issues facing our nursing audience through research, analysis, writing and editing, to contribute top-quality news and professional content within a lively and important sector.
The perfect candidate will have a flair for writing, enjoy making contacts and sourcing content. They will be expected to produce long-read features and source opinion pieces from across the sector, as well as contribute to the daily news agenda when needed.
We are searching for someone who is curious, innovative, and able to juggle multiple projects at one time, as well as a good communicator and team player.
As a first-of-its-kind position, the successful candidate has an exciting opportunity to help shape and develop the role of News and Features writer for Nursing in Practice.
A successful candidate will work closely with the news editor and editor, and also get involved in news meetings and other activities with our award-winning GP title Pulse and our other B2B publications.
You will work within a team of talented journalists and editors and be part of a growing and innovative publishing company which offers flexible hybrid working, based in our central London office and at home.

Responsibilities
1. Sourcing and writing features, analyses and news content for the website and daily newsletters
2. Helping to deliver exclusive investigations and campaigns
3. Commissioning and editing opinion and blog pieces
4. Using social media platforms to engage with the nursing audience and bring more readers to the website
5. Attending and covering internal and external events
6. Working within tight deadlines and producing accurate and clean copy
7. Working with the news editor and editor on new projects, such as roundtables, reports and social media campaigns
8. Working within our wider editorial team which includes the company’s other healthcare publications: The Pharmacist, Pulse, Management in Practice and Healthcare Leader.
Key skills
9. Completed a journalism course or Master’s
10. Someone with experience in journalism – preferably who has written about health
11. Some experience in finding and writing news stories/features/analyses/long-reads
12. Experience in working to tight deadlines
