Since 1980, Prospect Hospice has provided dedicated end-of-life care service for people living in Swindon, Marlborough and north east Wiltshire. We bring care, comfort and confidence around the clock, every day of the year.
Our aim is to provide excellent, personalised and compassionate care for everyone in our community who is affected by a life-limiting illness. We work in close partnership with other organisations – specifically with local health and social care professionals – as well as local people. Working within our community allows us to lead, provide and influence care so that anyone affected by a life-limiting illness has access to the best possible support when and wherever they need it.
We are currently seeking a Communications Officer to join our team on a permanent, part-time basis, working 22.5 hours per week. There is flexibility as to how these are worked across three, four or five days.

The Role
As a Communications Officer, you will create high-quality engaging communications and content for a range of departments across the hospice.
Producing content for our website, social media platforms and publications, you will promote our patient services, education, HR and volunteer teams to drive our key messages and deliver our strategic priorities.
You will also develop, implement and evaluate communications projects, providing creative, editorial and operational support to colleagues.
Additionally, you will:
- Research, plan, write, proof and edit copy for a range of audiences and publications
- Plan, create and deliver integrated digital and print campaigns
- Arrange interviews and photo opportunities
- Manage media enquiries
About You
To be considered as a Communications Officer, you will need:
- Experience of working in a communications role
- Experience of communications planning and high-quality delivery
- Experience of web content management systems
- Experience of using social media in a business and/or professional environment
- Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
- Strong organisation and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in IT, including MS Office
- At a minimum, GCSEs or equivalent at level 4 / Grade C or above in Maths and English
