We’re looking for a proactive Transformation and Services Officer with a passion for environmental sustainability to help shape and drive our Greening Newark and Sherwood corporate policy. In this role, you’ll support the Council’s response to the Climate Emergency, track and analyse carbon data, and ensure decision-makers have the right insights to drive impactful change. You’ll collaborate with teams across the Council, external partners, and communities to embed sustainability into business planning and identify opportunities for carbon reduction projects.
If you're enthusiastic about environmental initiatives and want to make a difference we’d love to hear from you!
Your duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
* Work closely with SLT and Members to develop the Council’s corporate environmental policy under the heading “Greening Newark and Sherwood” which responds to the declared Climate Emergency, including CO2e reduction, and also policy work to date.
* Undertake the annual carbon footprint calculation including the capture and collation of data, with relevance for corporate environmental policy and particularly CO2e, relating to the Council’s own estate.
* Ensure that key decision makers are furnished with the best technical information and data (in an accessible format and making recommendations as required) to enable them to make effective policy decisions on behalf of the Council.
* Liaise with Members, SLT, Business Managers, Officers, other Local Authorities, external partners, and communities to promote and support broad understanding (internal and external) of the Council’s corporate environmental policy and potential opportunities for collaboration around the policy.
* Work with all Business Managers from across the organisation to translate the corporate environmental policy, in line with the Community Plan objectives, into business/service planning. Alongside, work with the relevant performance colleagues to ensure that applicable performance metrics are also in place and can be reported upon to show progress and drive improvements.

The post holder’s vehicle must be roadworthy, taxed and MOT’d and the individual must ensure that they possess a valid driving licence and that their vehicle is insured for business use.
Who we are looking for:
* Demonstrable experience in a policy or strategy development, change management, performance improvement or research environment.
* Experience in the interpretation, analysis and organisation of complex information and use this in written reports and verbally to inform transformation and change management decisions.
* Experience in a project environment, being able to demonstrate leading/coordinating projects to completion within agreed time frames and to a high standard of quality.
* Educated to A level or equivalent.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
* Good working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research techniques.
