Solution 47 Recruitment are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Manager to join our Engineering client in Saffron Walden.
The Quality Manager will play a key role in ensuring that all engineering processes, products, and services meet the required quality standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality management systems (QMS) while collaborating with engineering, production, and other departments to continuously improve processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Management System (QMS):
Develop, implement, and maintain the company's QMS in compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
Lead audits, inspections, and assessments to ensure the QMS is adhered to and continuously improved.
Ensure proper documentation and reporting related to quality procedures, product specifications, and corrective actions.
2. Quality Assurance & Control:
Oversee the quality assurance and control processes for engineering designs, product development, and manufacturing operations.
Monitor and analyze key quality metrics (e.g., defect rates, process efficiency) to ensure product quality.
Implement and manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for any quality issues that arise.
3. Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to identify and resolve quality-related concerns.
Provide guidance and training to engineering teams on quality standards, best practices, and problem-solving techniques.
Ensure clear communication of quality expectations and performance to internal teams and external suppliers.
4. Process Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within engineering and production processes to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.
Utilize methodologies like Six Sigma, Lean, or similar for process optimization.
5. Supplier Quality Management:
Work with suppliers to ensure the quality of materials and components.
Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
6. Risk Management:
Conduct risk assessments and analysis to identify potential quality issues before they occur.
Implement risk mitigation strategies in product development and engineering design processes.
7. Reporting & Compliance:
Prepare and present detailed quality reports for senior management, highlighting performance trends, issues, and corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, standards, and certifications.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or a similar discipline.
Relevant certifications in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, etc.) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality management or engineering role, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
Extensive experience with quality management systems (QMS), auditing, and regulatory compliance within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Knowledge and hands-on experience with various quality tools and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, SPC, Root Cause Analysis).
Skills:
Strong understanding of engineering processes and product lifecycle.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams to address quality challenges.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems, and quality management software.
