We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer for a 12-month contract based in Winsford on behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs.
Job description - the role
Our Procurement Manufacturing Engineering team supports casework fabrication across the Submarine switchboard programmes. At the same time we are also embracing the future of procurement by developing a digitally enabled and literate organisation, alongside a focus on embedding sustainability into the way we operate both internally and across our supply chain.
Working as part of a fast paced and challenging project-based business, in this role you will be aligned (based on skills and experiences) to our Production team working on submarine switchboards, accountable for the delivery of Manufacturing Engineering activities for the casework, copper and other fabrication sub-assemblies.
This will cover all elements of the manufacturing product life cycle, from new product introduction through to mature component cost reduction and improvement programmes, you will have the opportunity to work with and influence external suppliers and teams.
As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for:
Technical: Develop, implement, validate, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing processes and / or methods of manufacture in the supply chain / to ensure capability to meet and continue to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead-time
Product Definition: Capture, analyse and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of manufacturing processes and identification of improvement opportunities.
Collaboration: Proactively accesses internal and external networks of technical communities and functional teams, quality, design, and project engineering, to ensure fulfilment and realisation of the product intent.
Problem Solving: Support the investigation and resolution of product and supplier technical problems with the application and use of appropriate tools.
Strategy: Identify and develop opportunities for new or improved manufacturing processes and technologies to meet or exceed current or future requirements.
What we require from the candidate:
Suitably qualified or experienced Manufacturing Engineers
Communication and stakeholder management skills with a strong positive attitude
Technical experience of complex manufacturing, preferably within Naval/Marine/Defence or a related field, covering a range of process disciplines.

Working knowledge and experience of industry and Manufacturing Engineering processes and tools is highly desirable.
