The Role
The role of group account sales manager is part of our investment in the growth and development of our sales team, by providing our key account team with dedicated leadership and support.
This is a hybrid hands-on role to take the lead for managing and developing our Key Account Managers and Key Account Specialist, whilst building and owning your own sales ledger. You will be able to strike the balance between supporting and mentoring your team and contributing to the overall company growth objectives through growing existing customers sales, finding new prospects, and winning new business. You will aim to exceed sales and margin targets, and identify category gaps, set objectives, and successfully secure new sales to existing customers to maximise average drop value. You will report to the Commercial Director and will be supported by the Key Account Specialist.
Key Responsibilities
1. To deliver the required growth and retention to achieve the company’s growth strategy
2. Mentor and coach the Key Account sales team to develop skills & knowledge
3. Achieve your and your teams’ sales and margin targets
4. Manage the tender process for you and your team
5. Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new Key Account decision makers
6. Identify, win & retain profitable new business
7. Retain and grow existing customer sales and margins
8. Collaborate with the Commercial Team and suppliers to maximise sales, margins, and product knowledge
9. Have a good understanding of your geographical target areas to grow reputation and suggest ideas to the business
10. Ensure all relevant administrative and reporting requirements are fulfilled within deadlines set
11. Represent the Key Account Sales team in Commercial meetings
Person Specification
1. You will be an excellent communicator, able to adapt your approach for different customers and colleagues always remaining calm under pressure
2. Have gravitas and by your presence, you should be able to add value to a customer meeting, without undermining the Key Account Manager or devaluing their pre-existing relationship
3. Able to demonstrate real world experience with key accounts and how you have added value
4. The ability to present and influence at Senior Leadership & board level
5. Because you care about customers, you’ll pay attention to the details and take pride in doing a great job
6. A proven track record of people management, key account management and prospecting new accounts within the foodservice sector
7. Catering product knowledge and a good understanding of the care, education leisure and hospitality industry
8. Hold a driving license

1. Strong negotiations skills with the ability to influence confidently across all levels
2. You’ll love working with people, whether its building great relationships with colleagues or providing amazing service to our customers
3. Maintain enthusiasm in the face of setbacks
4. Organised, passionate, and energetic, with excellent people skills and a customer-centric approach
5. Provide structure and set expectations to challenge and probe to get under the skin of opportunities and challenges
6. PC literate (training will be given on internal systems)
7. Sound commercial awareness and business acumen
At least 50% of your time will be spent out in the field and you will be expected to travel across the regions where our Depots are located.
