Job Summary:
The Cook/Fryer provides excellent food and customer service by properly cooking and serving menu items for clientele in a timely fashion, reporting to the Kitchen Lead as needed. Additionally, they are responsible for contributing to a positive shopping experience for customers, including assisting in maintaining company quality standards.
Essential Functions of the Position:
1. Assists customers with purchase of food and drink.
2. Provides help with food preparation such as cleaning, prepping ingredients and sauces, and marinating meats.
3. Cuts meat to fit menu needs.
4. Ensures quality standards by properly following FIFO (first in first out) methodology.
5. Cooks and fries all menu items to company quality standards.
6. Monitors inventory shrink to avoid unnecessary losses.
7. Cleans and sanitizes restaurant and work-related equipment.
8. Responsible for proper sanitary food storage of hot and cold food.
9. Monitors temperatures to ensure food safety standards are met.
10. Receives and puts away vendor orders.
11. Assists customers with ordering and service as needed.
12. Addresses and resolves customers' complaints and concerns to promote good public relations, escalating to store management if necessary.
13. May assist with fulfillment of online customer orders with accuracy and efficiency.
14. Assists in ensuring a favorable company image for customers by maintaining a clean, attractive, and friendly restaurant.
15. Maintains a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times including observing company appearance standards.
16. Complies with all safety policies and procedures.
17. Follows local, state and federal health and civil code regulations.
18. Complies with all state, county and local weights and measures laws and labeling requirements.
19. Reports malfunctioning refrigeration or equipment to management immediately.
20. Observes shift operating hours at all times as scheduled or assigned by management.
21. Greets all customers and provides them with prompt and courteous service.
22. Performs all other duties and assignments as directed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. 1+ years of cash handling and restaurant experience preferred but not required.
2. Ability to follow company protocols for receiving product to ensure product quality standards and accuracy of quantity.
3. Capable of using interpersonal skills to manage employees and assist customers in various situations.
4. Ability to follow all safety protocols including food safety and properly utilizing and maintaining necessary equipment.
Physical Requirements:
1. Regularly required to sit, stand and use hands to operate cash registers.
2. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
3. Ability to lift up to 30-40 lbs. as needed.
4. Hand-eye coordination and dexterity to properly utilize cash registers and other job-related equipment.
Work Conditions:
1. Standard Work Hours: Typically, every day of the week including weekends and holidays with occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
2. Work environment includes refrigerated storage areas and relatively damp or humid conditions including wet or slippery floor surfaces.
3. Noise levels are typically moderate but can be extremely noisy if a need arises to check on refrigeration or enter the compressor/machine room.
4. Dress Code: Professional and presentable.
