CNC Recruitment are seeking for skilled Press Brake Operators for our client in Bridport area - a well-respected metal fabrication manufacturer. As a Press Brake Operator, your primary responsibility is to operate machinery used for bending and shaping metal sheets and plates according to precise specifications. You will play a critical role in the manufacturing process by producing high-quality metal components that meet the required specifications and standards.
Location – Bridport
Job type – temp to perm, permanent after 12 weeks
Working hours – Monday to Thursday, 7.00am to 5.00pm including breaks
Salary – £15 an hour
Responsibilities:
* Machine Setup:
* Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
* Set up and calibrate Amada press brake machine based on job specifications (e.g., adjusting bend angles, material thickness, die selections).
* Conduct test runs to ensure machine setup is correct before full production.
* Operation:
* Operate the Amada press brake to form metal parts to required tolerances.
* Inspect the first piece, adjust as necessary, and ensure that production matches quality standards.
* Monitor machine performance during operation and address any operational issues.
* Quality Control:
* Use measuring tools like callipers, micrometres, and protractors to check part dimensions and angles.
* Ensure that parts meet specified tolerances and customer requirements.
* Perform regular inspections to ensure consistency and quality in production runs.
* Maintenance:
* Perform routine maintenance on the Amada machine, including cleaning and lubrication.
* Troubleshoot and repair minor machine issues or report more serious problems to maintenance personnel.
* Documentation:
* Maintain accurate records of production, machine settings, and part inspection results.
* Complete work orders and other documentation as required by company procedures.
* Safety:
* Follow all safety protocols when operating the machine and working on the production floor.
* Ensure that all safety guards and equipment are in place before operation.
* Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately.
Requirements
* Technical Skills:
* Proficient in operating Amada press brake machines (or similar CNC press brake machines).
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications.
* Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques and materials.
* Physical Requirements:
* Able to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
* Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
* Experience:
* Prior experience working with Amada press brakes or other CNC-controlled machines.
* Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication and related equipment.
* Attention to Detail:
* Ability to produce high-quality work with precise tolerances.
* Strong problem-solving skills to adjust machine settings and processes.
* Communication:
* Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding job progress and machine performance.
Preferred Experience:
* Experience with CNC programming, particularly for Amada machines.
* Prior experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
