The primary purpose of the Commercial Analyst role is to provide proactive financial & commercial insights & analysis with a focus on supporting the financial & commercial aims of the organisation. Ensuring a clear understanding of Return on Investment of trade channel investment and its key drivers is central to this role.
Additionally the Commercial Analyst will be responsible for supporting a number of activities and processes helping to drive the commercial and financial performance of the business. Reflecting the position of the team within the organization the Commercial Analyst will work closely with key teams across the organization to ensure that strategic product is being maximized amongst the relevant distribution channels.
Distribution strategy:
1. Support Distribution strategy implementation by delivering the commercial & commission plans and forecast that are required as part of the implementation plan
2. Work with Commercial Manager & Commercial Director to financially model past, current and future channel mixes developing targets and goals to support business strategy
3. Working with the Commercial Manager & Sales Director to determine short and long terms goals for the various channels to deliver cost of sale reductions
COMMERCIALS:
4. Develop the outline for each scheme at partner and market level with recommendations for commission targets and business goals
5. Prepare all necessary supporting information and work to facilitate informed decision making and information for effective roll out of terms
6. Ensure efficient execution and maintenance of all Annual Seasonal & Tactical schemes including target setting, ongoing reporting of partner performance and final results
7. Provide post activity analysis on commission schemes to help ensure continuous improvement
COMMERCIAL PLANNING:
8. Manage the month end process of commission actuals and forecasting
9. Maintain accurate cost of sale database capturing all commission related activities
10. Oversee management staff incentive budget, reviewing activities and ensuring policies for incentive are being followed
REPORTING & INSIGHTS:
11. Provide regular weekly reporting and dashboards to support day to day operation and decision making for trade & direct sales teams.
12. Model past current and future channel mix including topline distribution channel
13. Provide agreed external reporting to support all commercial activities including performance vs target details for trade partners
14. Work with sales team to unearth channel trends and strive to improve understanding of ROI on all investment activities to support investment decisions and future distribution strategy
15. Respond to ad hoc analysis needs as they arise to support business decisions
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
16. Responsible for identifying all risks and opportunities in monthly re-forecasting for given channel
17. Support monthly close process and working alongside cost centre managers in forecasting the SG&A budget.
18. Analyse SG&A spend across marketing and sales channels to derive ROI insights. Present these findings back to the business in a timely fashion to ensure that SG&A investment & returns have visibility to key stakeholders and budget owners.
OTHER:
19. Work with Commercial Manager to ensure efficient design and production of Field Sales Targets supported with regular tracking
20. Attend and support key external sales team meetings as able
21. Attend and support key commercial meetings and events across EMEA as required
22. Monitor market data and market trends
23. Support key projects and initiatives as they arise in the business
24. Compile business and trade partner performance updates as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
25. University Degree
26. Studying towards or Part Qualified Accountancy Qualification preferred: CIMA or ACCA
27. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a commercial environment
28. Experience of Essbase and Brio/Hyperion strongly preferred
29. Experience of Power BI would be useful.
30. Experience of JDE accounting system would be useful
31. MS Excel to advanced level
32. Strong knowledge and experience of MS PowerPoint and Word

34. Ability to present commercial & financial information to non-finance colleagues
35. Strong attention to detail, analytical and able to prepare own analysis work
