To act as a clinical expert, leading progressive nursing practice and contributing to the strategic and operational management of the Cardiothoracic Directorate.To be responsible for providing expert practice through leadership, consultation, clinical advice, teaching and support for staff. The post holder will work with clinical colleagues to provide information, advice and support to patients with complex cardiac conditions.To identify and initiate change in response to service, taking a professional and clinical lead in the development of evidence- based approach to practice, fostering a culture that contributes to the clinical governance agenda.To be the lead on strategic projects within the directorate in relation to the Cardiology Ward/ACCU.To be responsible for the management and development of senior nursing team on the ward and through them all members of staff.To provide clinical leadership for advanced practice.To provide supervision/training to staff and students, developing nursing skills, ensuring that policies and procedures are implemented and evaluated, and ensuring that educational and development opportunities are optimised.To ensure the efficient and effective utilisation of material and human resources within agreed budgets and to act as an authorised signatory.To promote the practice of patient centred nursing within teams.To provide support to the Matron as required.
