Job Description:
Purpose of the job:
The Senior EC&I Engineer defines and distributes the scope of work to ensure that the project is executed safely, on time and at appropriate levels of quality. The Senior EC&I Engineer is responsible for the delivery of design and engineering to meet the requirements technical specification.
Reports to: Principal EC&I Engineer
Key Accountabilities:
1. Development of designs to satisfy the technical specification.
2. Production of design deliverables throughout the design process.
3. Checking/approval of discipline specific design deliverables.
4. Contribution to design reviews and safety reviews.
5. Ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation throughout all phases of the design process.
6. Compliance with safety legislation and statutory regulations.
7. Develop cost effective technical solutions.
8. Managing safety by developing and reinforcing the safety culture.
9. Management of contractors.
10. Provide technical consultancy.
Occupational Skills and Knowledge:
1. Degree qualified in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experience.
2. Working towards, or already have, Chartership in a discipline specific engineering institution.
Duties and Requirements:
1. Strong understanding of the fundamentals within your engineering discipline.
2. Significant experience in two or more of the following specific EC&I areas:
1. Mechanical Handling (including Remote in-cell handling)
2. Process Instrumentation
3. Functional Safety (to BS EN 61508/BS EN 61511)
4. Machinery Safety (including BS EN 60204 and BS EN 13849)
5. LV Distribution Systems (including experience in Trimble Pro-design)
3. Previous experience of working within the nuclear industry.
4. Proven track record of successfully delivering design solutions.
5. Understanding of design requirements to support nuclear safety cases.
6. Good understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations.
7. Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
8. Good level of commercial awareness.
9. Experience of leading design teams.
10. Experience of managing sub-contracts.
11. Full membership of a discipline specific engineering institution.
12. A full UK driving licence.
13. EC&I design integration with control systems (PLC/SCADA) would be advantageous.
14. Experience of Design Substantiation to support safety cases including assessment of new and existing systems.
15. Experience of bid preparation.
16. Current SC Security Clearance advantageous.
