We are recruiting on behalf of a remarkable secondary school in Exeter, seeking a qualified science teacher to join their team in January. This role involves teaching science to students aged 11 - 16 who have a variety of special needs, primarily related to social, emotional and mental health challenges.
While the school environment can be demanding due to the unique needs of its students, it is equally rewarding. You’ll be part of a tight-knit, exceptionally supportive team dedicated to making a difference.
About the role:
This position involves teaching science mainly at KS3 level, with some teaching up to GCSE level. Prior experience in teaching science in the UK is essential as you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback.
Given the needs of the students, we are looking for someone calm, resilient and confident in managing challenging behaviour. A naturally calming presence will be an asset in this role, offering you the chance to make a meaningful impact on young lives.
About the school:
The school provides a safe and nurturing environment for young people, many of whom have faced significant challenges. You’ll be working with students who may have experienced trauma or have ADHD, autism or other behavioural needs.
The school is committed to the wellbeing of its staff, providing extensive training and support. Daily safeguarding meetings are held before and after school. A counselling service is also available to all staff. You’ll be joining a welcoming, close-knit team that values collaboration and support.
