We are seeking to recruit Band 6 nurses to join our new Mental Health Urgent Care Centre!

The Mental Health Urgent Care Centre will operate with an enhanced specialist multidisciplinary team, focusing on improving the experience and outcomes for service users, carers, and staff, alongside supporting acute colleagues in the system by enabling the acute hospital to operate and improve ED performance and quality of care.
The service will operate 24/7 and will be a multi-disciplinary, cross sector service that is practitioner-led and supported by social care, voluntary sector partners and Lived Experience Workers.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
1. Support the Team Leader in the development and implementation of a multi-professional Mental Health Urgent Care Centre
2. Provide a high-quality service to meet the needs of people in a Crisis phase of mental illness, and their carers
3. Ensure the efficient and effective running of the team
4. Provide Leadership and supervision within the multi-disciplinary staff group
5. Support the Team Leader in the development and implementation of a multi-professional Mental Health Urgent Care Centre providing a high-quality service to meet the needs of people in a Crisis phase of mental illness, and their carers
6. Undertake urgent assessments of people with mental health problems in acute crisis in the Mental Health Urgent Care Centre. The service will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
7. Be responsible for helping to establish and maintain team systems and processes for effective team working and processes, including outcome measures and audits under the direction of the Team Management.

Job responsibilities
To support the Team Leader in establishing and maintaining effective inter-team and inter-agency communication
To provide effective liaison/communication relating to referral and admission to, and discharge from the Mental Health Urgent Care Centre.
To assess clients meeting defined referral criteria as per Mental Health Urgent Care Centre and local Operational Policies
Carry out Risk Assessment and Management activities
Allocate and re-allocate tasks or staff on a daily basis to meet organisational and workload requirements, and in response to urgent, unplanned client activity, to ensure that rapid response, assessment and rapid time limited treatment is a reality
To assist the Team Leader in the effective day to day management of the team, including,, Duty Rota, time worked and annual leave, thus ensuring appropriate skill mix at all times.
To ensure the effective use of supervising and administering medication and monitoring therapeutic and adverse effects of prescribed medication as per trust and NMC Policies and guidelines; ensure stock medication is maintained as per policy.
To remain updated on all relevant aspects of psychotropic medication.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
13. RMN OR Dip / BSc (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing.
Desirable
14. ENB 998 / Preceptorship and Mentorship.
15. ENB 812 / BSc (Hons) Specialist Community Nursing Practice (Mental Health) or similar training.
Experience
Essential
16. Post-registration experience with at least some experience at band 6.
17. Experience in acute and community areas.
18. Experience in care planning, change management and use of Microsoft Office.
19. Evidence of continuing professional development.
20. Knowledge of physical health contributions to Mental Health issues, difficulties, and assessment.
Desirable
21. Experience in working with acute mental health problems in any setting.
