Shift work will be required on a 4-shift, 4 week rotation:
1. Dayshift
2. Nightshift - Premium payment - 38.5% of salary
3. Bridging shift - Premium payment - 39.75% of salary
4. Weekend shift - Premium payment - 59.02% of salary
Job description
Our Client is the world leader in aircraft landing and braking systems and is at the forefront of contributing to safer, more sustainable aviation for current and future generations. We design, test, manufacture and assemble landing gear used on commercial aircraft including Airbus and Boeing, and UK military aircraft such as the Eurofighter Typhoon.
What will I be doing?
Operate conventional & numerically controlled (CNC) equipment used to perform production of Landing Gear pipes (bending, swaging of hydraulic fittings, pressure testing etc.) in accordance with production processes, using approved programs, and in line with quality, cost, deadline and safety requirements. From time to time, you may be required to give line side support to the Landing Gear Assembly line. In addition, you will be self-motivated and able to demonstrate problem-solving capabilities (e.g. managing non-compliance, poor handling, etc.). The candidate should be able to contribute proactively to improvement activities for example improving quality of the product or reducing production time.
Responsibilities include:
1. Prepare and install tools, measuring and test equipment and automatic control stations
2. Load the computer programs specified in the production procedures
3. Input production equipment settings and ensure that it functions correctly
4. Run the machine program to perform the operations, and perform the intermediate checks specified in the production process, drawings or written instructions, ensuring geometric tolerances and quality compliance
5. Inspect the finished product and identify any defects
6. Where appropriate, take part in adjustment or follow-up operations
7. Enter and save/log production data in the production management file (computer or paper-based)
8. Maintain the workstation, tools and work area in good condition, in accordance with guidelines
9. Propose technical improvements (to products and/or processes) or organizational improvements (to workflows, workload, etc.) aimed at improving work conditions and industrial performance indicators

Candidate skills & requirements
1. Must have a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ level 3
2. Work to a high standard of Health, Safety & Environmental compliance
3. Understanding of the basic principles of the pipe manufacture process.
4. Knowledge of Assembly and completion of associated production acceptance testing.
5. General knowledge of Fabrication and the relevant machinery
6. Ability to follow and understand technical drawings, specs, procedures & Test instructions
7. Understanding of the risks related to Foreign Object Damage (FOD)
8. Knowledge of and proficiency with quality tools for example 5S, Lean/6-Sigma
9. Ability to self-inspect & complete dimensional measurements
10. An understanding of the programming of NC machines would be an advantage
