Principal Fire and Health & Safety Consultant

Our client, a global consultancy, is seeking a Principal Health, Safety & Fire Consultant to join the Health, Safety and Risk division. You will undertake a wide range of health and safety risk assessments and high-level fire risk assessments, working with commercial, residential, industrial, and retail clients, requiring regional and UK-wide travel as appropriate. You will be responsible for leading client-specific projects and client management.
Job Role:
1. Carrying out fire, health, and safety risk assessments in accordance with legislative requirements.
2. Provide robust fire, health, and safety advice to clients with high-level advocacy.
3. Develop emergency and evacuation plans (including specific tenant plans).
4. Deliver on client-specific projects and competent person roles.
5. Develop retrospective fire strategy reports for residential and student accommodation buildings.
6. Provide corporate management advice, gap analysis reports, and fire and health and safety management systems.
7. Participate in team huddles, providing direction and mentorship to other consultants.
8. Support the Technical Director in department projects.
9. Complete technical reviews of consultant fire, health, and safety risk assessments.
10. Keep up to date with current legislation and advise clients on compliance requirements.
11. Identify and discuss solutions to health, safety, and fire-related problems.
12. Respond to technical concerns and problems, ensuring smooth implementation and ongoing client support.
13. Resolve any problems in a timely manner.
14. Maintain own professional CPD regularly, open to professional development through external courses and qualifications.
15. Review international regulations and compliance regulations, completing European health, safety, and fire safety risk assessments as required.
Who we're looking for:
1. Excellent literacy skills and technical knowledge of fire, health, and safety legislation for residential, commercial, manufacturing, and retail sectors.
2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Familiar with BAFE SP205 Validation process.
4. Ability to understand, adapt to, and demonstrate company values quickly.
5. Demonstrable CPD record.
6. Member of IFSM or IFE.
7. Recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification.
8. Diploma level qualification in health and safety.
9. CMIOSH or equivalent (or working towards).
10. Registered on a recognised Fire Consultants' Register.
11. Thorough understanding of British Standards relating to fire in the residential sector.
12. Proficient in the practical application of health and safety legislation.
13. Familiar with Building regulations Approved Document B, British Standards, relevant fire, health and safety legislation, ACOPS, Approved Documents M and K.
14. Awareness of CDM 2015 Regulations.
Essential Experience required:
1. Having carried out type 3 & type 4 FRA's.
2. Experience carrying out FRA's on high-rise buildings is essential.
3. Retrospective fire strategy experience would be very useful.
