Senior Accountant
Location: Grantham
Salary: SK18 £47,994 per annum

The Role
1. Provide expert financial advice to service areas, Corporate Management Team and members including undertaking complex modelling of innovative approaches.
2. Help and enable service to deliver outcomes on a business-like & commercial basis, achieving value for money for residents.
3. Demonstrate leadership and technical expertise to support the embedding of financial best practice across the organization.
4. Identify outcome-focused solutions which will support the ambitions of the Council as set out in the Corporate Plan.
5. Support the Assistant Director of Finance in leading a modern, forward-thinking and dynamic financial team that will support the development and embedding of a commercial culture across teams and provide proactive, value-adding financial support working with service areas across the council.
6. Ensure that Finance provides an efficient, effective and modern service, guiding and managing the operation and activities of the team in accordance with relevant statutory requirements and the policies of the Council.
7. Be accountable for leading and motivating your teams to ensure effective delivery of a customer-focused finance service across the council.
8. Support the Assistant Director of Finance in delivering performance improvements and the actions set out in the relevant service plans and improvement plans relevant to the services described above including performance indicators and measures relevant to the service areas.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Accountancy qualification (CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA) and up-to-date working experience of best practice methodology.
2. AAT (or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
3. Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
4. Experience of successfully undertaking complex financial modelling over multi-year projects (including sensitivity analysis).
5. Leading and being part of cross-functional teams, including external resources.
6. Understanding wider implications of decisions from a legal, procurement, technical perspective.
7. Presenting complex financial information to non-finance specialist senior officers in an understandable and engaging way to facilitate effective decision making.
8. Experience of managing a high-performing team that is result-oriented and focused.
