Nursery SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly team at a primary school in the WF1 area of Wakefield, providing tailored support to children with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the school's nursery class. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with individual children, helping to meet their specific learning, emotional, and developmental needs.
You will be supporting children with a variety of SEN, including but not limited to Autism, Speech and Language Delay, ADHD, and other learning disabilities. Your role will involve providing personalised care, engaging in activities to aid their development, and promoting a nurturing environment that encourages their growth and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support to children with SEN, assisting with their learning, social integration, and personal development.
* Support the teacher in planning and delivering educational activities tailored to individual needs.
* Foster a positive and inclusive environment to help children feel safe, valued, and supported.
* Work closely with other staff members, parents, and outside agencies to ensure children's needs are being met.
* Encourage children to develop their social and communication skills.
* Assist in monitoring children's progress and reporting to relevant staff.
* Promote and maintain high standards of behaviour, ensuring that children are respectful and engaged.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is essential.
* Strong understanding of various types of SEN, including Autism, ADHD, and Speech and Language Delay.
* Empathetic, patient, and caring attitude with a passion for supporting children.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
* A positive, proactive approach and a desire to make a real difference in children's lives.
