National Grid is hiring a Programme Manager for our Customer Connections Team based in Warwick.
About the role
As a Programme Manager reporting to the Senior Programme Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of Connection Reform and the Connections Action Plan (CAP) within National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET).
You will be responsible for overseeing and managing specific programmes and projects related to Connection Reform, aligning them with the overall objectives and strategic aims defined by the senior leadership team. Your role will involve coordinating and collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners to drive efficient and effective programme delivery.
What you'll do
1. Programme Management: Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of assigned programmes and projects within the Connection Reform portfolio. Ensure adherence to project management best practices, including defining objectives, scope, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
2. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including Subject Matter Experts, project teams, and senior management. Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as regulatory bodies and industry partners, to align programme objectives and drive successful outcomes.
3. Risk Management: Identify and assess risks associated with programme delivery and develop mitigation strategies to minimise potential impact. Regularly monitor and report on programme risks, issues, and dependencies, and take proactive measures to address them.
4. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish robust performance monitoring mechanisms to track progress, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the programmes under your responsibility. Generate accurate and timely reports on programme status, accomplishments, and challenges for senior management and other relevant stakeholders.
5. Resource Management: Work closely with project teams to ensure adequate resource allocation, to support programme delivery. Monitor resource utilisation and make adjustments as necessary to optimise efficiency and meet programme objectives.
6. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, operational efficiencies, and innovation within the programme management function. Implement best practices and lessons learned to enhance programme delivery and contribute to the overall success of Connection Reform.
7. Collaboration and Leadership: Foster a collaborative and inclusive working environment, promoting effective communication, teamwork, and knowledge sharing among team members. Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to project teams, enabling their professional growth and development.
What you'll need
8. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Business, Project Management) is required.
9. Proven experience as a Project or Programme Manager, managing complex projects and programmes within a regulated industry, preferably in the energy or utilities sector.
10. Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
11. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders, and drive successful programme delivery.
12. Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organisation.
13. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering results and meeting targets.
14. Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and prioritise multiple tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
15. Relevant certifications such as PRINCE2 or APM are desirable.
What you'll get
Starting salary of £46,000 - £54,000
