As an occupational therapy (OT) assistant you will work alongside qualified occupational therapy staff as part of the multidisciplinary team within the acute inpatient service at The Walton Centre. The role requires a high level of commitment, responsibility and team work. Following a work-based framework for development, and under the direction of senior OTs, you will carry a delegated caseload to provide occupational therapy intervention. Joining our team of OT assistants, you will contribute to the smooth running of the therapy department which includes caring for equipment, wheelchairs, ordering of stock plus housekeeping and administration duties. Applicants must be able to demonstrate relevant clinical experience of working within a health care setting and have evidence of personal development equivalent to NVQ level 2 or 3 in health care or social care. To establish a therapeutic relationship with patients and, under the direction of the occupational therapists, carry out assessment-related activities and treatments. 2. To report back to supervising staff regarding the individual needs/abilities of patients and carers, focusing on personal care, productivity and leisure. 3. To accept responsibility for delegated workload and to manage own time effectively. 4. To record and report findings appropriately, following the standard procedure used by the department, including the use of electronic recording systems 5. To liaise with members of the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies to ensure the effective management of patients' care. 6. To ensure the smooth running of the department through maintenance, cleaning and administrative duties.
