Synergy Personnel LTD are currently recruiting for 1 x Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEP) for a project near Reading, Berkshire.
To work as part of the project team responsible for the design and build of a state of the art engineering and work spaces. The project consists of 5 new build facilities featuring a truly breath-taking street environment which connects the new offices, learning spaces and science with the natural environment.
The specific role opportunity will centre around high value subcontract procurement and management in delivery. Working closely with our technical and operational team members to achieve the best co-ordinated outcome. Subcontracts will vary in scale from circa £2m to £20m and candidates should wish to work within a large, highly motivated team with long term prospects with a likely pipeline of work from the customer.
A Senior Quantity Surveyor is an experienced QS who has a track record in managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. They seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.
They will have experience of managing a small team of less experienced commercial staff as well as mentoring others on their journey to becoming professionally qualified.

Responsibilities:
1. Governance: Has a good knowledge of and adheres to the Company's GMCEs, BMS and other governance
2. Analytical Thinking & Decision Making: Orders information and systematically checks data; maximises digital opportunities
3. Cost Engineering: Prepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents
4. Estimating: Critically appraises, estimates and negotiates with 3rd parties
5. Planning: Reviews complex contract programmes; assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes
6. Project Management: Monitors subcontract activities, measures and responds appropriately; analyses the commercial progress and reports to senior project staff; manages commercial aspects with Customer and Stakeholders
7. Procurement: Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes; prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy
8. Commercial Management: Analyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and/or compensation events; undertakes customer and stakeholder management; prepares, submits and negotiates claims; prepares internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation
9. Development, Recruitment and Retention: Maintains own Personal Development Plan; manages HR/People aspects for direct and indirect reports; actively supports the development of others including professional mentoring; produces plans for team to achieve goals/aspirations; supports recruitment of lower grades
Qualifications:
1. Essential: BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent; Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB (or working towards)

Salary will be between £70k - £85k depending on experience, plus Car Allowance/Company Car plus additional company benefits.
