Development Project Manager - Transmission Projects
About the Role
Base Location: We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however, need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around Scotland (Aberdeen, Perth, or Inverness).
Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available.

The Development Project Manager in the SSEN - Transmission Offshore Directorate will manage the Development phase of large capital projects in the network transmission business involving complex AC substations, HVDC Converter stations and cabling both onshore and offshore.
The remit of Development projects includes community consultation and engagement, site selection and the planning and consenting process.
The key responsibilities of the Development Project Manager will include:
1. Evaluating the project concept and assessing project feasibility, development of options and initial designs and driving refinement to a selected option that is consentable, constructable and commissioned within the agreed budget and programme.
2. Manage the selection of suitable project sites and cable route selection options. Lead the selection and coordination of key suppliers to undertake and perform the required surveys and studies to inform initial designs. Lead and manage the projects through the planning and consenting process ensuring the project meets the requirements of the Regulator, Local Authorities and Statutory bodies.
3. Provide effective management of all key internal and external interfaces across the various project workstreams in the development phase to ensure a successful handover to the project delivery teams including supply chain partners, environmental and consenting, planning and regulatory interfaces.
4. Leadership of multi-discipline project teams involving both staff and external contractors, using robust project management systems, tools and techniques to produce key project deliverables up to the project construction phase.
5. Provide effective Safety and Environmental Leadership to the project, ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all personnel are managed and the impact of the project to the environment is minimized.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
1. Degree qualified and membership of a recognised professional body would be of benefit. A recognised Project Management qualification would be desired.
2. Extensive experience in the early development phase of large capital projects (preferably in the Electrical generation/transmission sectors) and ideally managing projects through the consenting and regulatory approval stages.
3. Strong and demonstrable experience leading and managing key project interfaces across multiple stakeholder groups and external supply chain partners, particularly in a multi-contract delivery model and NEC3 contracts.
4. Advanced knowledge and understanding of project management systems, risk management and large capital project governance. Experience of managing and implementing CDM 2015 regulations would be beneficial.
5. Strong appreciation and focus on health and safety, and awareness of how to influence this at the design stage.
6. Excellent effective communication skills both written and verbal with experience of communication with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including members of the public.
