What you'll be doing? Barratt Redrow, Homes England and Lloyds Banking Group joined forces as co-investors to establish MADE Partnership. MADE Partnership acts as a master developer, managing the development of large-scale projects, taking responsibility for the overall vision and strategy, and coordinating the wide range of stakeholders involved. It assembles the land, manages the planning, installs the primary and community infrastructure, disposes of serviced parcels of land to homebuilders, and ensures robust long-term stewardship is put in place. In this role you’ll work as part of the Group Major Projects team – the specialist master developer unit within Barratt Redrow Developments which manages the MADE Partnership business on behalf of the investors. We have a pipeline of projects ready to mobilise into delivery. Reporting to the Development Director, as Head of Planning, you will contribute to the overall success of Group Major Projects, through advising on planning and design matters, managing planning allocations and applications to secure consents in order to deliver Major Projects site portfolio. Your Responsibilities Leading all planning activity on behalf of the Major Projects team. This will include initial planning opinion on potential new projects, supporting land transactions, securing site allocations, preparation and securing consents, managing consultation events, negotiating S106 and planning conditions, discharge of conditions and approving planning applications for serviced parcels. Management of consultancy appointments for planning and related disciplines. Assisting with the identification of potential development opportunities suitable for Major Projects through a range of methods, e.g. examination of statutory development plans, housing land audits, liaison directly with the public sector, private landowners and agents. Assisting with the preparation of proposal documents founded on master development delivery principles. Directly managing sites through the planning process, leading the preparation of high-quality masterplan and design codes with placemaking at their core. Work collaboratively with stakeholders and consultants to establish and optimise appropriate site planning and delivery strategies. Assist the wider team on existing sites and other relevant duties as required. Support the Development Director in ensuring the team are fully resourced and well-directed, with clear guidelines to their own job responsibilities, and are provided with full support in achieving these, in terms of communication, training and development, and the organization of the team’s workload. Support appropriate reporting within Major Projects in line with the standard format and schedule including timely and accurate production of Board Packs for approval. Promote and act in accordance with Group values, systems, policies and procedures. What you'll need? Experience of leading planning activity on large strategic sites including the preparation of high-quality masterplans and design codes. Extensive planning experience related to large development sites, either within a housebuilder, consultancy or local planning environment. Excellent collaboration skills and experience of negotiating with multiple parties to deliver a mutually beneficial outcome that promotes good placemaking. Planning degree or equivalent qualification and eligibility for RTPI Membership. Experience of instructing and negotiating Section 106 agreements and planning conditions within the master development context. Full understanding of development appraisals and scheme viability. Proven experience of working collaboratively with the public sector. An understanding of the end-to-end development process, technical and commercial matters associated with delivering at scale. The ability to formulate and implement clear strategies for the promotion of sites. An understanding of the concept and application of social value. Proven project and budget management skills. Articulate, clear and credible, and able to thrive in a collaborative team environment. Able to communicate with a wide range of people, engender rapport and trust, and develop and maintain key contacts. Exceptional negotiating and influencing skills that can be adapted to a range of different audiences. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
