An exciting opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of a Staff Nurse with the Newton Suite Intermediate Care team.
We are currently looking to recruit enthusiastic, motivated Staff Nurses with a passion for pro-active, Patient Centred Care. You must be dynamic, enthusiastic, and well-organised to blend well with an excellent team of Nursing, Therapy, and Medical colleagues.
The role is responsible for ensuring high quality, effective nursing and therapy interventions that are delivered to all patients admitted to our care. Newton Intermediate Care Unit is a 30-bedded facility based at Newton Community Hospital. This role will expose you to new experiences, working within a multidisciplinary environment providing sub-acute medical care and rehabilitation. You will have responsibility as a Band 5 Staff Nurse working on a rotational basis.
As an important part of the team, you will be expected to work both independently and alongside your colleagues to provide the highest level of patient care. Intermediate care experience would be beneficial.

KEY DUTIES
1. To establish, maintain, and develop professional working relationships with colleagues.
2. Follow all agreed Quality Assurance Mechanisms in operation and contribute generally to the establishment and development of a quality service.
3. Adhere to policies and procedures including standing financial instructions and orders.
4. Participate in the Trust’s Development Review Appraisal process and, with line management, objectives and development plans.
5. Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
6. Contribute to health promotion strategies both internally and externally.
7. Be familiar with the arrangements for safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
8. Comply with the Trust’s Infection Control Policies.
CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Adhere to relevant Code of Practice of Professional body.
2. Maintain and utilise advanced clinical skills to analyse and interpret patient conditions.
3. Implement nursing care as per care plan and report observations back to the Team Leader.
4. Administer drugs in line with Trust Policies and Procedures.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure patient records are kept up to date and accurate.
TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support the development of junior staff through clinical supervision and mentoring.
2. Attend mandatory training according to Trust and local policy.
LINE MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Act as preceptor/mentor to new members of staff.
2. Provide support and instruction to pre-registration nurses and other students/visitors.
RESEARCH & AUDIT
1. Participate in any research undertaken in the unit.
2. Assist in the Department’s Audit Programme.
