Are you a finance professional with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for driving cost-effective solutions? We're looking for a Senior Finance Manager to take charge of reviewing and critiquing major capital expenditure requests—ensuring best practices and smart financial decisions across the region. The role will have primary responsibility for providing operational and commercial support and challenging the HMUK Marine business, as well as maintaining the relevant processes and accounting to monitor the performance of the business and comply with Company policy and accounting standards.
Key accountabilities
* Work closely with the senior officers in HMUK Marine and the wider business when required
* Support the delivery of performance for HMUK Marine
* Manage, develop and challenge the business in appropriate planning and forecasting processes to provide national business line and HMUK Marine management with relevant and reliable forward looking business information
* Ensure the provision of accurate, relevant and timely financial and management information to support HMUK Marine management and National Business Line management
* Deliver appropriate business and financial analysis to enable business line and regional management to identify and effectively manage issues
* Review and critique major capital expenditure requests; challenging the region to ensure best practice and most cost-effective solution
* Provide ad hoc support to the Aggregates Business Line Business Partner
* Provide ad hoc project management and business development finance support to the Marine business
* Proactively develop and deliver an enhanced control environment and a continuous improvement of reporting mechanisms within the business
* Oversee production of monthly accounts in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring accounting policies, controls and systems conform to Company policy and to current accounting standards, and operate efficiently and effectively.
* Direct report – Two (Purchase Ledger Clerk and Cashier)

Job requirements
* Experience
o Significant finance experience in a medium to large sized organisation
o Commercial and strategic business acumen
o Up-to-date knowledge of technical accounting and financial reporting guidelines
o Experience / Exposure to Navision preferable
* Team working/Management Skills
o Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
o Interpersonal & communication skills
o Ability to prioritise and organise multiple competing responsibilities
o Attention to detail and process efficiency
o Ability to take clear and quick decisions, even if they prove to be unpopular
o Fast and consistent implementation of decisions
o Ability to manage regional relationships across a large geographical spread
o Demonstrate drive and initiative
o Demonstrate openness to change, flexibility and adaptability
Education/Qualification
* University degree or NVQ Equivalent
* Professional accounting qualification, ACA, ACCA or CIMA with demonstrable post-qualification experience
