Position: Classic Car Mechanic
Location: The Carrosserie Company, Barnard Castle, County Durham
Employment Type: Full-Time - 37.5hr week
About Us: At Carrosserie our team is passionate about bringing vintage vehicles back to their former glory, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques. We are a small team that get on well and are looking for someone with the right skills and a positive attitude to join us. We have been established in the current location for over 20 years, it is a modern heated workshop with all the machinery and equipment required to carry out our detailed and extensive restorations.
Job Overview: We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with classic cars, a strong understanding of vintage automotive systems, and a meticulous approach to their work. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of classic vehicles to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Diagnostics: Perform thorough inspections and diagnostics to identify mechanical issues in classic cars.
* Repairs: Carry out repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and other mechanical components.
* Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and servicing to ensure the longevity and reliability of classic vehicles.
* Restoration: Assist in the restoration of classic cars, including engine rebuilds, suspension overhauls, and electrical system repairs.
* Parts Sourcing: Source and install authentic or compatible replacement parts for vintage vehicles.
* Documentation: Maintain detailed records of work performed, parts used, and customer interactions.
* Customer Service: Communicate effectively with customers to explain repairs, provide estimates, and offer advice on vehicle care.
* Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including panel beaters and fabricators, to ensure seamless project completion.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a Mechanic, with a focus on classic cars.
* In-depth knowledge of vintage automotive systems and components.
* Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* A passion for classic cars and automotive history.
* Relevant certifications or qualifications in automotive repair (preferred).

Schedule:
* 8 hour shift
* Monday to Friday
Work Location: In person
Our hours of work are Monday – Thursday 8AM – 4.30PM, Friday 8AM – 3.30PM. Overtime is available.
