Cranleigh STEM has partnered with an innovative start-up working in the energy storage industry who are recruiting a Chemical Engineer to join its team based in Cheltenham. Acting as their Chemical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the scale up of the company’s novel sustainable technology.
Chemical Engineer Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement models to simulate the behaviour of chemical reactors under various conditions.
2. Work towards the build of the company’s demonstrator – managing FEED projects.
3. Analyse gas flow dynamics to optimise performance and efficiency.
4. Design processes for temperature measurement and control within the reactor environment.
5. Support efforts in syngas cleanup and carbon dioxide separation, proposing innovative solutions to enhance process efficiency.
6. Collaborate with the research team to troubleshoot process-related issues and implement continuous improvement strategies.
7. Provide technical expertise to support the scaling-up of our carbon-negative technology, ensuring it meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.
8. Document all design work and process improvements meticulously, contributing to innovation and patent applications as required.
Chemical Engineer Requirements
1. Degree qualification in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or closely related field.
2. Proven experience working on medium to large-scale projects.
3. FEED project experience.
4. Strong experience in modelling and simulation of chemical processes, particularly reactor behaviour, gas flows, and temperature control.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Excellent communication and documentation abilities, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly and concisely.
7. Passion for sustainability and climate technology innovations.
8. Experience with ASPEN and SolidWorks is highly desired.
