At WorkLyf Group we are recruiting for an Engineering Manager for our client based in Stafford. The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities during the shift to ensure continuous and efficient operations. This role plays a crucial part in supervising a team of maintenance operatives (electrical and mechanical) optimising and maintaining all equipment and maintaining a safe working environment.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Supervise, lead and assist a team of maintenance operatives during the shift, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to schedule.
2. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and excellence in maintenance practices within the shift team.
3. Implement the maintenance strategy developed by the Maintenance/Engineering Manager to ensure the reliability and functionality of critical machinery and equipment during operations.
4. Coordinate closely with other departments to plan maintenance activities, minimise disruptions, and optimise production efficiency during shifts.
5. Manage inventory levels of maintenance supplies during the shift and initiate reordering maintenance supplies as necessary.
6. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, company policies, and regulations related to maintenance activities during operations.
7. Oversee the usage and management of fuels, lubricants, and other fluids during operations, implementing cost-effective strategies.
8. Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements during operations and implement solutions to enhance overall operational efficiency.
9. Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment service histories during the shift, updating MAPCON where necessary.
10. Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and oversee works to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
11. Carry out critical preventative and breakdown maintenance when needed.
12. Ensure a daily handover is carried out to the next Shift Foreman.
Person Specification
1. Bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field.
2. Proven experience as maintenance supervisor.
3. Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment.
4. Ability to effectively plan, organise and prioritise projects.
5. Strong team player with proven leadership and motivational abilities.
Desired Experience
Experience within a heavy industry such as foundry, recycling or quarry and aggregates sectors.
