Within Lighting & Grid, the PFI team covers 4 lighting PFI contracts and operational teams: Blackpool, Oldham, Rochdale, and Staffordshire.
The PFI Operations Manager - Street Lighting will form a key part of the Lighting and Grid Management Team, taking lead responsibility for all operational and construction aspects of the PFI-related Street Lighting operations.
Key aspects of the role will be ensuring that the contractual, strategic, physical, and financial objectives are achieved. The work activities of the teams that fall under this role include large street lighting contracts where the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of the design, installation, maintenance, and connections works are a key focus.
The role is both inward and outward facing, representing E.ON with suppliers, customers, and local authorities.
Main Responsibilities
* Manage the strategic direction of a team of multi-disciplined engineering professional staff and craft teams, ensuring standards of health and safety are exceeded, productivity and quality of service delivery are maximised, and excellent customer service is delivered.
* Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment within the team by ensuring that safety issues are addressed, led by example, and develop new approaches to safety to deliver the vision of zero accidents.
* Management of the operations of PFI contracts to ensure the fulfilment of obligations whilst maximising the efficiency of delivery and client relationships.
* Responsible for ensuring accurate budgeting for operational costs and forecasting future incomes whilst driving financial results for the business on a continuous basis. Controlling financial risks and maintaining a continual focus on financial management and overhead cost reduction.
* Setting the expectations and driving performance to ensure the activity meets all time, cost, and quality targets required by the business, customers, and clients.
* Stakeholder and client interfacing.
* Ensuring that skill and competence levels are developed to meet business requirements and allow staff to reach their full potential.
* Taking full accountability and ownership for the resolution of customer enquiries, complaints, and claims to meet business KPIs and customer expectations.
* Accountable for the accurate and timely provision of management information and drive efficiencies through identification of improvements.
* Drive efficient and effective delivery of a work programme carried out by contractors and internal staff delivery.
* Provision of technical, managerial, and commercial support to contractors and internal staff.
* Liaising with contractors to ensure problem resolution.
* Responsible for ensuring that all work delivery and safety initiatives can comply with legislation e.g. CDM, Electricity at Work Act, HASAWA, NRSWA, and other legislation.
* Ensure all activity meets internal and external environmental legislation and standards.
* Leadership of the team to develop, drive, and promote a culture of commitment to wellbeing; to lead by example by being proactive and taking ownership of all aspects of wellbeing.
* Ensure that all staff receive regular briefings, which are two-way and lead to a strategic understanding of the key issues facing Energy Infrastructure Services, Lighting, and Grid and the individuals within the business.
* Responsible for managing employee attendance and maintaining team performance in line with the established processes and procedures.
* Support the development and training plans process to meet the requirement of the business.
What we need from you
* Educated to HNC/degree standard. Electrical engineering preferable.
* Able to demonstrate a good understanding of relevant health and safety responsibilities with a detailed knowledge of Utility site safety procedures. Ideally have a recognised safety qualification e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH.
* A strong understanding of electrical engineering, technical, design, and/or operational requirements relevant to street lighting activities.
* A strong track record of delivery of performance targets, including safety, financial, and customer service.
* An understanding of management accounting and demonstrate ability to forecast, manage and monitor the team budget, including identification of opportunities to deliver increased value and/or make budget savings.
* Knowledge and experience of managing operations to deliver the services and activities associated with street lighting and electrical infrastructure connections.
* Manage business risks and organisation reputation effectively through regular assessment and management of risks and issues.
* Must have a full valid driving licence.
