This is an office-based role which requires you to be on site 5 days per week. Please consider your commute, time and costs from your location to the office which is based just over 10 miles from Silverstone Circuit.
Position Overview:
As a Category Manager you’ll be responsible for managing a specific category of products within our commercial team. The main goal is to optimize sales, profitability and customer satisfaction by selecting the right product assortment, pricing strategies, and promotional activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Strategy & Reporting
1. Develop and execute category strategies to maximize sales and profitability looking at sales vs Forecast and forecast.
2. Analyse market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities to identify opportunities.
3. Set pricing, promotions, and markdown strategies based on sales data, profit margins and aged/dead stock.
4. Issue royalty and sales reports for licensors and consignors.
Product Planning, Purchasing and Replenishment Management
1. Determine product mix for range plans and allocate appropriately.
2. Collaborate with suppliers and product team to source new products.
3. Maintain optimal inventory levels to ensure availability without overstocking.
4. Create and maintain Sales forecast and present in trade meetings.
5. Take responsibility for purchase budgets and purchase requisitions.
6. Track product lead times to ensure timely delivery.
7. Responsible for replenishment requisitions.
8. Track product intake – receipts vs the plan.
9. Monitor category performance using sales reports, margin analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
10. Set RRP’s and determine margins.
11. Identify underperforming products and implement corrective actions.
12. Work closely with merchandisers to improve category performance.
13. Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional deals.
14. Ensure suppliers meet quality and delivery standards.
15. Manage all enquiries relating to the category from customer service or the sales team.
Marketing & Promotions
1. Collaborate with the sales team to plan category-specific promotions and advertising.
2. Propose budgets for paid social and PPC.
Qualifications & Skills:
1. Experience:
2. 3+ years in retail category management, merchandising, or buying roles.
3. Skills:
4. Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
5. Proficiency in data analysis and forecasting.
6. Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
7. Knowledge of category management software and tools.
8. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
