Mental Health Support Worker

Salary: £76.92 - £95.68 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Bournemouth Branch are currently working with schools in Southampton, seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join their teams. This role offers the opportunity to positively impact the emotional and psychological well-being of students, supporting them through their mental health challenges and aiding their educational journey.
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will provide essential support to students with mental health needs, working closely with teachers, parents, and staff to foster a nurturing and understanding environment. Your role will include classroom assistance and tailored interventions, helping students succeed both academically and emotionally.

Responsibilities for this role:
* Provide compassionate and focused support to students experiencing mental health challenges, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
* Implement one-on-one and small group interventions based on students' individual mental health needs.
* Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring that students with mental health needs are included and engaged.
* Manage crises and emotional outbursts effectively, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
* Track and document student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to personalised support plans.
* Stay current with educational practices and ASD strategies, participating in professional development.
Mental Health Support Worker Requirements:
* Have experience supporting individuals with mental health challenges; experience in an educational setting is preferred.
* Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
* Demonstrate a high level of empathy, patience, and understanding when supporting students with mental health needs.
To be a successful candidate working as a Mental Health Support Worker, you will need:
* The right to work in the UK.
* An updated CV with two relevant references from the last two years, covering the last ten years with no unexplained gaps.
* An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new one.
