Brand New Factroy Manager Role Leading Food Manufacture Telford / Shropshire Area £50,000 - £60,000 Holiday Pensions This role is a factory floor posistion where you will spend 80% of your time D R Newitt have been retained with a Leading Food Manufacture in Telford who are looking to recruit a Factory Manager posistion. This role has potential to grow into an Operations Lead role in the future Overview of Role To manage, maintain & develop staff & machinery in a manner that will ensure the team consistently achieve the targeted levels of performance, in the most cost-effective manner. To provide outstanding leadership, continuously challenging, innovating and improving performance in all production areas. To be responsible for all shifts. To oversee production, maintain highest standards of quality and safety, improve efficiencies facilitate all product launches. Customer Service To take full responsibility to ensure customer service levels are fulfilled. Must strive for 100% Service Level. Support the production planner to manage customer communications and develop strong customer relationships. Take full responsibility for the achievement of the production plan and ensure clear and timely communication of any service issues. Health and Safety To take full responsibility for site health and safety. There is no higher priority than safety on site. To have read and understood the company Health and Safety policy with specific regard to the responsibilities of the Factory Manager. Specifically maintaining high Health and Safety standards ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures for both employees and contractors. Ensure Risk Assessments have been completed and signed off. Any knowledge or observation of an unsafe practice whether relating to Health and Safety, Transport, Food Safety or Hygiene, must be investigated by you and reported to a Director with appropriate steps taken to both remedy any immediate danger and prevent reoccurrence. Quality To take full responsibility for the quality of the product produced on site through management of and compliance with quality systems. To demonstrate particular attention to the detail of the finished goods and strive for a perfect finish of the product. Ensure though the teams the condition and hygiene of the site facility is to the highest food manufacturing standard. Alongside the Technical Manager ensure the site maintains and develops its BRC accreditation and other relevant standards and audits. To work with the Technical Team to ensure EHO and Food Legislation recommendation are met or exceeded. People To take full responsibility for all people management activities including absence management, appraisals, discipline, grievances. To determine and ensure the achievement of the skills & training requirements of the team to fulfill current and future business needs. To lead coach and motivate the team to achieve individual and departmental development. Provide coaching and support to the line management team on HR policy and employee relation matters. To develop and train direct reports while addressing underperformance. To work on creating a strong team and taking overall responsibility for their actions. Reward achievements and encourage improvement across the team. Facilitate and the development of an open culture of proactivity where people take pride in what they do, & feel a sense of involvement and self-worth. To ensure that all employees under your supervision put Health and Safety first. Factory Performance -To take full responsibility for the factory productivity and performance via measurement, monitoring and analysis of factory information including material loss, output, line utilisation, labour efficiency, quality, hygiene and energy. -Ensure targets are met for both labour cost % and absolute labour cost. -Ensure a daily operational review takes place with all factory managers to review daily KPI’s. -To have a particular focus on the accurate recording of agency usage and spend. Look for ways to effectively manage and minimise this cost -Manage and actively reduce wastage and giveaway to set agreed targets. -Oversee the effective and efficient use of all equipment & machinery, ensuring optimum line performance is achieved. To make sure machinery is well maintained and looked after via the appropriate preventative maintenance schedules. -Ensure any improvements to the site are undertaken in a cost effective and timely manner. -To monitor and ensure that the appropriate team structure is in place for each department, resourced by the right number of people, in order to ensure that objectives are achieved with maximum efficiency. -To ensure that Health and Safety performance is continually monitored and improved upon in terms of a reduction of Health and Safety related incidents. Any other reasonable request from either a Senior Manager or Site Director. key skills -Graduate and or with significant experience of FMCG manufacturing. -Confident phone manner -Numerate with a clear understanding of cost drivers -Knowledge of and experience of best practice manufacturing -Knowledge of legislation governing Food Compliance, Health and Safety and Employment Law -Knowledge of sage via the MRP and ERP to help control the inventory of stock -Commercial awareness -Negotiation experience. -BRC experience -Good standard of written and oral communication in English.
