We have a new opportunity to be part of the Aston Martin Performance Technologies team in the role of Purchasing Lead .
Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, you will be responsible for leading procurement activities for high-performance engineering and technology components. This role combines strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and supply chain optimisation to support cutting-edge engineering projects. You’ll contribute directly to AMPT’s objective of delivering innovative technologies and world-class commercial solutions.
You will be responsible for:
* Leading the procurement of complex components and assemblies, ensuring alignment with commercial, operational, and strategic goals.
* Developing and managing supplier relationships with a focus on improving cost, quality, delivery performance, and lead times.
* Driving improvements in procurement processes, supplier onboarding, and ERP data accuracy, ensuring clear visibility of supply chain performance.
* Overseeing supplier negotiations and contract management to secure favourable terms, reduce costs, and mitigate supply chain risks.
* Collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure purchased components meet technical and quality specifications.
* Developing and implementing supplier KPIs and performance tracking tools to drive reliability and continuous improvement.
* Supporting compliance with procurement policies, industry regulations, and internal reporting structures.
* Participating in procurement and cross-functional meetings, chairing as required, and proactively addressing supply chain challenges.
* Contributing to procurement strategy development and supporting business growth through process optimisation.
* Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of best practices in procurement and supply chain management.
* Undertaking other duties aligned to the role as reasonably required.
What you will need to be successful in this role :
* Extensive experience in procurement and supply chain management within high-tech engineering or advanced manufacturing.
* Strong knowledge of procurement strategies, supplier management, and contract negotiations.
* Proven ability to manage supplier performance, negotiate costs, and implement risk mitigation measures.
* Experience leading or mentoring procurement teams and driving strategic and process improvements.
* Qualification or degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or equivalent.
* Demonstrated success in sourcing materials, including composites, metallics, electronics, and proprietary parts.
* Proficient in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, IFS).
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
* Strong analytical mindset, confident decision-making, and results-driven approach.
* Ability to perform under pressure and handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and respectful approach.
* Committed to Health & Safety and upholding high professional standards.
* Willingness to travel to supplier sites, industry events, or other company locations as required.
This is a full-time office-based role based at our campus in Silverstone, with additional requirement to travel to other locations where necessary.
