Systems Engineer - Fire Extinguisher and Fire Safety Assets

Reporting into the Engineering Manager, the Systems Engineer will provide technical support for fire extinguisher systems and fire safety assets within railway and transportation networks, ensuring compliance with BS 5306, NFPA 10, and other relevant fire safety standards.
This is a field-based role, where flexibility to travel across London is essential.
What you’ll do:
* Develop planned and corrective maintenance regimes, including procedures and documentation in alignment with BS 5306-3 (Fire Extinguisher Maintenance & Servicing).
* Investigate complex or repetitive failure modes, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
* Configure and update system software related to fire detection, suppression, and extinguisher monitoring
* Monitor and analyse system conditions and performance, identifying weaknesses and recommending improvements.
* Manage and produce Requests for Information (RFIs), Technical Queries (TQs), and site information requests to aid project development and delivery.
* Conduct technical site surveys and audits, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and identifying areas for improvement.
* Support and assure the effectiveness of Reactive and Planned Maintenance regimes, ensuring asset reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement in line with industry best practices.
Who you are:
You will have experience in a similar role in fire extinguisher system engineering, maintenance, and compliance auditing, alongside excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Key Requirements:
* Knowledge of fire suppression systems, extinguishing agents, and maintenance best practices.
* Understanding of fire risk assessments, regulatory requirements, and safety compliance standards.
* Ability to analyse system performance data and implement efficiency improvements.
* Experience in writing technical reports, maintenance plans, and performance assessments.
* Competency in delivering training and technical guidance for engineering teams.
