Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) \nLocation: Great Barr \nContract Type: Full-Time \nStart Date: September start \n \nJob Overview: \nWe are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive and dynamic team at a school in Great Barr.\n\nThe ideal candidate will have a proven background in working with students with special educational needs (SEN), including those exhibiting challenging behaviour. This role also requires experience in providing personal care and supporting students in their daily activities to help them achieve their fullest potential. \n\nKey Responsibilities: \n\nProvide one-on-one and group support to students with special educational needs, including those with challenging behaviour.\nAssist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to meet the specific needs of each student.\nSupport students with personal care tasks, including toileting, feeding, and dressing, as required.\nHelp manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner.\nFoster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.\nCollaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to ensure effective communication and tailored support for students.\nAssist in classroom activities, ensuring they are accessible to students with a variety of needs.\nEnsure the safety and well-being of students at all times.\nEssential Skills & Qualifications: \n\nPrevious experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs (SEN), including challenging behaviour.\nExperience in personal care support for students with varying degrees of physical and emotional needs.\nKnowledge and understanding of SEN strategies, including de-escalation techniques.\nA patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students.\nStrong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.\nA commitment to promoting inclusive education and the well-being of all students.\nDesirable: \n\nExperience in supporting students with specific conditions (e.g., autism, ADHD, physical disabilities).\nAdditional training in special educational needs or behaviour management.\nDBS clearance (or willingness to undertake one).\nLevel 2 or 3 teaching qualification\nHow to Apply: \nIf you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs and have the relevant experience, we would love to hear from you
