To be successful in this role, you'll need
1. HCPC approved Degree/ Masters (or equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy
2. To be registered with HCPC and RCSLT
3. Experience in working with a client population who present with a diagnosis of Autism (ASD) / Learning Disability, along with complex needs and challenging behaviour
4. Experience in or an interest in Dysphagia management
5. The ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
6. Excellent communication / time management skills
The role involves working within an inpatient mental health hospital for men and women with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism. You will help to support our clients to develop their functional communication skills through a number of approaches including conducting assessments, running groups, 1:1 sessions, and staff training to help our clients progress towards their discharge and enabling them to live a happier and fulfilling life within the community.

The Role/ Key Responsibilities
As a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), you will manage a caseload of clients to maximise their potential and enable them to enjoy the best possible quality of life via the delivery of an evidence-based SLT service.
You will promote effective functional communication, social skills development, collaborative working, and a total communication environment.
You will assess communication needs, whilst implementing and developing the SLT programme according to the client's diagnosis and identified needs.
You will be involved in setting therapeutic targets and using appropriate outcome measures to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
This role will be working as part of an interdisciplinary team comprising of Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Nursing, and Psychiatry. You will also work closely alongside a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and provide support to the Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (SLTA).
You will attend ward rounds, CPA’s, and CTR’s for your client caseload and be involved in working as part of a team to develop MDT therapeutic interventions and Care Plans.
Person-centred planning is at the heart of everything we do, based on the specific needs of the individuals in our care.
You will receive clinical supervision from a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and be involved in quarterly meetings with the Speech and Language Therapists for the whole of the Priory, led by The Lead Speech and Language Therapist for the Priory Group.
