Therapist
Service Care Solutions are currently supporting a Substance Misuse Charity, and they are looking for a Permanent Therapist to join their team. You must have experience counselling clients with drug and alcohol-related issues, and have experience with ages from 16 and above.
Person Specification
The day-to-day delivery of high quality therapeutic support to substance misusing clients who access our clients' services via statutory or self-referral.
Role Purpose of a Therapist
1. To provide counselling and support in relation to substance misuse.
2. To communicate our clients' vision and deliver its mission.
3. To provide direct client services by way of group and key work.
4. To meet key service objectives in line with our clients' policies, procedures, and data collection systems.
Main Duties & Responsibilities of a Therapist
1. To deliver a structured therapeutic support programme through group-work sessions and one-to-one interventions.
2. To contribute to regular reviews of the client with probation (where appropriate) and health workers or other relevant agencies.
3. To counsel individuals about their substance use using recognised theoretical models.
4. To help individuals address their substance use and offending behaviour through an agreed action plan.
5. To maintain records of client attendance and participation in the group programme.
6. To explore, implement, and supervise a range of approaches, activities, and exercises designed to promote health and support individuals through detoxification/stabilisation.
7. To utilise recording and statistical systems to collect and collate data and to ensure that all administration, case recording, written reports etc. are maintained to agreed standards.
8. To utilise a flexible approach and, where required, participate in activities and tasks which directly respond to client need.
Requirements of a Therapist
1. Experience of direct work with substance misuse clients.
2. Two years experience of direct client work.
3. Experience of developing and delivering therapeutic support programmes.
4. Experience of providing direct client services, particularly assessment and group work.
5. Experience of working in partnership with a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies.
