As the Contract Manager, you will be leading the development and implementation of contract strategies for the Transmission Operations contract portfolio to maximize contract value and mitigate risk.
You will be responsible for leading the end-to-end commercial contract cycle, involving strategy, procurement, implementation, management, and renewal phases of multi-million-pound contracts. This includes commercial and operational management of outsourced service providers and personnel, driving continuous improvement across all areas of service.
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for:
* Through specialist knowledge of contract management, identify, manage, and deliver competitive tendering strategies for a specific portfolio of contracts to support the operations business' commercial and performance objectives, focusing on the higher value and/or more operationally complex contracts such as Cable Maintenance Agreement and Transmission OHL minor refurbishment.
* Work closely with the Procurement and Transmission Operations teams to prepare detailed contract scope for invitations to tender for designated contracts.
* Provide ongoing commercial support throughout the contract lifecycle and manage requirements for modifying contracts.
* Chair contract and project review meetings.
* Provide support for delegated, shared services, and centralized purchases.
* Provide relevant updates for the monthly reporting process.
What you'll bring
* HNC/Degree in Financial, Procurement, Law, Quantity Surveying or Contract Management discipline or equivalent experience.
* Detailed understanding of contract management processes with experience of commercial contracts.
* Experience in completion of tender specification documents and proven experience in tender assessment processes for commercial contracts.
* Ability to assess, prioritize, and confidently make the right decisions in a dynamic service environment while anticipating issues and putting in place effective strategies to manage these.
* Ability to think strategically to ensure commercial guidance supports immediate and long-term strategic objectives.
