Job Responsibilities:
1. Supporting the Project Design Lead / Lead Civil and Structural Engineer, responsible for the production of Civil and Structural (C&S) design deliverables within single discipline, multi-discipline engineering, EPCM or EPC projects.
2. Projects will range from Concept Design to Execution Design across various sectors (Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, Food), including small and large projects, and greenfield and brownfield.
3. Carry out all designer activities using initiative to meet agreed timescales and budget.
4. Participate in internal and external design reviews supporting the Project Design Lead & Lead Civil and Structural Engineer.
5. Interpret general arrangement drawings and scopes of work to develop them into engineering designs.
6. Depending on size and complexity, may be the responsible C&S designer for one project or a portfolio of projects.
7. Identify changes to the design scope and report them to the Project Design Lead & Lead Civil and Structural Engineer, providing support to the management of the change process.
8. Drive quality in all Engineering designs, including checking discipline design deliverables to company procedures.
Qualifications:
1. More than 5 years of experience as a C&S designer in single-discipline and multi-discipline projects, in an Engineering / EPCM / EPC company, in one of the mentioned sectors.
2. Deep knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Advance Steel or similar, capable of carrying designs using the software without supervision.
3. Sound knowledge of C&S engineering and design, with a good understanding of other disciplines (EC&I, Mechanical, Piping, and Process).
4. HNC / HND in Civil / Structural Engineering (Preferred).
5. Incorporated Engineer (Preferred).
6. Produce and develop design deliverables including 3D models, GA drawings, steel detailing, reinforced concrete detailing, and relevant schedules.
7. Experience with temporary works designs (Preferred).
8. Assist in the delivery of site surveys of existing assets, including the production of site survey reports.
9. Experienced with laser scanning and the production of detailed models from the scans (Preferred).
10. Result oriented; satisfaction achieved only after design approval by the Project Design Lead.
11. Liaise and work closely with the project team to ensure correct deliverables are produced, maintaining a 'one time right' mentality.
12. Assist Engineers with the production of design deliverables.
13. Sound understanding of current British / European Standards, Eurocodes, and EN1090.
14. Opportunity to teach and coach younger C&S designers (for experienced designers).
