As an Ophthalmic Technician you will support the Accident and Emergency Department at the Bristol Eye Hospital with essential diagnostic tests and patient care.
This will involve performing visual acuities, checking ocular pressure, performing Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Humphrey Visual Field (HVF) testing along with providing general personal care and support of the patient.
You will receive full training to be able to provide all of the diagnostic checks required.
The department is open 7 days a week, every day of the year. You will therefore be expected to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

• An ability to understand and undertake all clinical duties carried out by Ophthalmic Technicians.

• Phlebotomy
• Irrigation
• ECG recording
• Conjunctival swabs
