The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has opened up for an experienced Structural Engineering Lead, to be part of a pipeline project and will lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the project, ensuring it meets client and project requirements. There is a pipeline of upcoming projects that will transition into major projects, either after feasibility or during the Appraise & Select phases of the gated process.
You will be joining an existing project team focused on the early stages, such as evaluating a longlist or shortlist of options to support the selection of the preferred solution, as well as developing the solution.
This is a Contract role and has been deemed inside IR35

Your duties and responsibilities will be
Defining the structural engineering requirements (basis of design) for the new facility.
Contributing to the development of layouts by the mechanical and process engineering team (e.g., advising on possible RC wall and slab thicknesses).
Reviewing existing site data and contributing to further site investigations to determine the most suitable foundation solutions.
Providing advice on seismic requirements, including the process to determine if seismic design is needed for this project.
Delivering the structural engineering design of the new facility through the Appraise & Select, Define, and Delivery Stages, including connections to existing facilities.
Identifying risks and proposing resolutions or mitigation strategies.
Developing the appropriate deliverables list and format (drawings, specifications, reports, BIM, etc.).
Ensuring quality management and assurance of all structural engineering deliverables.
Managing health and safety, including the creation of relevant designer risk assessments.
Demonstrating engineering experience with a proven track record of successful delivery, including recent roles in influencing professional engineers and guiding technical personnel.
Having experience in regulated and quality-assured systems where professional judgment is a key attribute.
Proficient in using and reviewing BIM in work, with a minimum requirement of structural engineering software experience.
Experience in managing engineering processes and assets.
Collaborating effectively with other engineering disciplines and wider stakeholders.The setting for the role
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licenced site. These can include, nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
