The University of Southampton is seeking to make the appointment to the role of Asbestos Manager.

The Estates & Facilities Team ensure that the University has a built and physical environment that supports the activities of a world-class University, across a portfolio of academic, state of the art research, clinical, enterprise, workspace, residential, social amenity, sport and community facilities. Ambitious plans are afoot with an estates masterplan that will see £1bn of investment in enhancing and delivering a sustainable, inclusive estate over the next decade.
The Asbestos Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) in university buildings, equipment and areas under its control and assisting the Duty Holder with Control of Asbestos Regulations at Work. You will act as the Competent person and develop, implement and review procedures for monitoring and reporting Estates responsibilities, ensuring compliance with relevant statutory legislation relating to Asbestos.
You will provide a focal point for asbestos related information and advice, while also managing contract arrangements for Asbestos specialist service providers, including Licenced Asbestos Removal Contractors.
You will be a qualified Asbestos management professional with a skill level equivalent to achievement of HND, Degree, NVQ Level 4 or basic professional qualification such as:
1. P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings, S301 Asbestos & other Fibres, National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) General Certificate.
2. BOHS Module P405 – Management of Asbestos in Buildings, Module P406 – Supervision and Management of the Safe Removal and disposal of Asbestos. Module P407 – Managing Asbestos in Premises, the Duty Holder Requirement.
