We are looking for a Manager with a passion for quality childcare who enjoys bringing fresh ideas to the setting.
Your responsibilities will be to work alongside the Directors to ensure the smooth running of the nursery, overseeing the staff team and welcoming children and parents.
The nursery is fully staffed, with a permanent team; we do not use agency staff. The nursery is currently managed by the Director who needs more time to open another site. Melrose Nursery School has an excellent reputation with an 18-month waiting list. The nursery is of a high standard furnished by Community Playthings and fully stocked with resources. The children benefit from external companies providing daily physical activities.
We are based in a purpose-built building for children aged 2 years to 5 years. Opposite the main nursery, there is a second setting (Mini Melrose) where children aged birth to 2 years attend; this has a long-term Manager in place and every child transitions into the main nursery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Team Management:
o Leading and motivating a team of educators, ensuring they deliver high-quality care and education in line with the nursery's ethos and policies.
o Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to nursery staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
2. Curriculum Development and Implementation:
o Assist the Director in the development and implementation of an innovative and engaging curriculum that meets the individual needs and interests of children.
o Oversee the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities and experiences to promote learning and development across all areas.
3. Child Welfare and Safeguarding:
o Maintain a safe and secure environment for children, adhering to all health and safety regulations and safeguarding policies.
o Ensure all staff members are trained and knowledgeable in safeguarding procedures, responding appropriately to any concerns or incidents.
4. Parental Engagement:
o Build strong partnerships with parents and caregivers, fostering open communication and collaboration in their child's learning journey.
o Organize regular family events to keep families informed and involved in nursery activities.
5. Administrative Duties:
o Manage the day-to-day administrative tasks, including enrolment, attendance records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
o Maintain accurate documentation and records related to staff, children, and the nursery's operations.
Requirements:
1. Level 3 or above qualification in Early Years Education or equivalent.
2. Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within an Early Years setting.
3. Sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and statutory requirements.
4. The confidence to lead a team.
5. A high level of knowledge of customer service.
6. Ability to bring fresh ideas to the setting.
7. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
8. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
9. Commitment to continuous professional development and upholding best practices in early childhood education.

Working hours are 8 am to 6 pm four days a week, Monday to Thursday. We operate 51 weeks of the year.
