We are now recruiting Vehicle Technicians at Tyneside Workshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £45-50k including overtime.
Salary: £35,364 per annum plus a shift allowance of £78.00 per week when working the 13:30 - 21:30 shift. A weekend supplement for Saturday (£50 per attendance) and/or Sunday (£100 per attendance) shift attendance is applicable.
Working Hours: Full time - 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) (Three week rotating shift pattern; week 1: 06:00 - 14:24, week 2: 06:30 - 14:48 and week 3: 13:30 - 21:30)
1 in 3 weekends (Saturday and Sunday with 2 days off during the week)

* LCV-HGV training program. Royal Mail maintains a range of vans/trucks and trailers and welcomes applications from those willing to develop their skills. If your working background is mainly in the light vehicle sector, Royal Mail will provide in-house and external training to help develop your career in the HGV industry, including MOT inspection standards, LOLAR regulations training, and vehicle diagnostics training
The Role:
With a Fleet of over 49,000 vehicles, meeting the challenge of maintaining our vehicles is a real team effort. We are looking for professional vehicle technicians to perform a full range of inspections, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment operated by Royal Mail Group. As an experienced technician, you will have your own personal toolkit equipped to undertake routine maintenance and repair of light/heavy vehicles. Specialist tooling and equipment will be provided for common use by everyone within the workshop.
Successful candidates must be fully qualified to at least advanced level (IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle maintenance & repair or an equivalent qualification) and have proven experience of working on a wide range of vehicles such as LCV/LGV. A full manual driving licence (LGV preferred with trailer experience) is required. MOT Tester would also be desirable but not essential.
